Netvibes gives me at least an extra hour each day for porn
This weekend, I spent most of my free time organizing my digital life into the web application, Netvibes. Netvibes is a Ajax-based personalized start page, similar to i-Google/Google Desktop/favoor. It allows for organization of content into tabs, with each tab able to contain different user-defined modules. Common modules include, RSS readers, email, weather, bookmarks, notes, to-do lists, Flickr photos, del.icio.us bookmarks (woohoo), and thousands more.
Since I'm started to utilize it, I've drastically increased my productivity. Since I like most people have their attention deficit disorder on full tilt, I was clicking, check'n one thing, flipping around revers'n it, check'n another, going back to the first thing, ect. I was tab browsing and refreshing so much that I was running around chasing new information, instead of letting it come to me. Netvibes saves me time by highlighting the tabs when I receive new content. Now everything that I utilize on a daily basis all within clicks and with almost no typing. I'm almost to the point where unless I'm doing a specific search for a term in google, I don't need to type in a url.
So let me give you a sample of my current setup. I wanted to preserve quality of screen size, so you can see how I set up my tabs to increase my general productivity by clicking on the image below. I'm still new to flickr so, I know you can increase the size of the image, by clicking on the image and then clicking on the All Sizes icon. There might be a better way, but I'm just getting into utilizing flickr.
All in all, Netvibes saves me about 5 mintues of normal clicking time an hour. That compounded over the day gives me at least an extra hour to spend with my "Super Secret" and _private tabs.
And no my _private tab is not all porn.
