I'm starting to become globally minded as I get
older. Not necessarily in a political sense, I had a phase 2 years ago
for that. Speaking of which I'm pretty much 99.8% Libertarian on most
issues, FYI.
I'm becoming globally socially and
technologically minded. Part of it comes from work, working on
international websites, projects, ect. BTW reading Japanese (well staring
at characters and trying to guess what they mean from screenshots) makes me
want to poke my eyes out with a plastic spork.
I noticed yesterday that I was becoming more and more globally minded. When Tommy Vallier, someone I've met in my attempts to “open up” my global knowledge base, and I had a discussion yesterday which took me by
surprise. Canadians can't download TV/movies from iTunes because of international distribution rights. This amazed me I guess because, I never
really thought of Canada
being different from the US.
Especially with something that’s so common for me on a day
to day level.
To me Canada
was like the US,
but had different TV shows, has socialized healthcare, and much gayer. If I had to create an analogy on how I always
envisioned how Canada and
the US
seemed in my mind I would pick:
USA = Mark Wahlberg Canada
= Donnie Wahlberg
Now before you go judging my analogy....I’m not saying that Canada
is lesser than the USA,
it’s just that we're Flashier
and way more likely to star in an action flick. Canada is more likely to work on an
independent film, does some bizarre things (at least in comparison to their
brother) and at times is better at acting in the international field. To me it's sad that Donnie Wahlberg doesn't always get the same types of roles that his brother does. I consider it a shame that he has to resort to films like Dead Silence. It's not that he's any less of an actor than his brother, he's just not offered the same opportunities that Mark seems to be given. And sometimes they're not even good films. Come on, half of the movies Mark Wahlberg has made are about how awesome he is or are so self centered they have the word "The" in front of it. "The Corruptor","The Departed", ect...
So if America is given all of these opportunities, while his brother isn't, seems damn shameful. In fact lately with all of these recent acts of censorship or flat out denial of access bothers me in this day and age. It's even more relavent now seeing other countries such as China blocking RSS feeds, Facebook banned for United Arab Emirates,
Moroccos ban on YouTube, and the list goes on.
I’m glad I’m allowed a voice, I’m glad I live in a country despite its
flaws allows me to be who I am. I'm glad I can the season finale of Battlestar Galactica and put it on my iPod.
Apple, (and Tommy) I’d like to thank you for reminding me how I’m glad to
be an American. Fuck Yeah!
Update: Someone msged me and called me a "Apple Fanboy". I'm not, if you don't believe me I have references. I just happened to make 2 Apple Posts, one right after another. I like some things Apple and somethings not. Just like I like some stuff Universal Studios puts out, and somethings not.

It would be written "FuckenEh" on the Canadian shirt...but thanks for coming out. Personally, I'm much happier to have Donnie as the "Canadian".
